Saving Stanley from the Sea

Author Sarah Roberts came to visit St Luke’s to read her book Somebody Swallowed Stanley. Team R loved the book and felt sad about the animals that nearly swallowed Stanley the plastic bag. We talked about not throwing rubbish in the sea and wondered how much plastic rubbish we throw away. A couple of us brought in some plastic and we used it to make all the creatures from the story (can you see the whale’s blow hole that we learned about from Sarah?), covering the the plastic with plaster mesh to make it strong. We used lots of plastic bags and packets to make the jellyfish tentacles and the sea as these plastics can’t be recycled¬† and made into new things.
